Corridonia
On top of a hill between the valleys of the river Chienti and Cremone is the town of Corridonia, originated from the ancient Roman city of Pausolae. From Roman times to the Middle Ages changed its name several times, passing through "Mons Ulmi" and only in the last century, in honour of the hero Filippo Corridoni, took on its current name. In addition to the squares and palaces of the historic center, also worth a visit some monuments outside the city walls, in particular the ancient Abbey of San Claudio. The fans of equestrian sports will not fail to attend the gallop races that take place every summer at the racecourse Martini while the cultivators of pageants will attend, between late August and early September, to the Contesa della Margutta classic carousel of medieval origin, which also gives interesting gastronomy events organized for the occasion. The hills surrounding Corridonia are full of small villages with a strong agricultural tradition and authentic and genuine products. A true excellence, tracked down by Tasting Marche, is the Cooperativa Agricola San Michele, which, with an organization of social farming of valuable humanity, produces organic jams and preserves of unparalleled quality.
